Patient rights

This text summarizes, for informational purposes, rights recognized by Argentine Law No. 26,529 on Patient Rights, Medical Records and Informed Consent. It must be reviewed by a legal professional before final publication.

1. Care

You have the right to be cared for by health professionals, without any form of discrimination.

2. Dignified and respectful treatment

You have the right to have your dignity and your personal and moral convictions respected, especially those related to your sociocultural conditions, gender, modesty and privacy.

3. Privacy and confidentiality

All information related to your health is confidential. It may only be disclosed with your authorization, or when the law so provides.

4. Autonomy of will

You have the right to accept or refuse diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, with or without giving a reason, and to withdraw your consent afterward.

5. Health information

You have the right to receive clear, sufficient and adequate health information about your condition, the proposed procedure, its risks and alternatives, from the treating professional.

6. Medical second opinion

You have the right to request a second opinion regarding the diagnosis, prognosis or treatment related to your health condition.

7. Informed consent

Every procedure must have your prior informed consent, given after receiving clear information about it, except for exceptions provided by law (for example, emergency situations with serious risk to your health or life).

8. Medical records

You have the right to access your medical record and to receive a copy of it, as provided by applicable regulations.
