Pre-procedure preparation

These are general instructions, meant to help you get organized before a study or procedure. The specific instructions given by your physician or the SAH team for your particular case always take priority.

The information on this page is general. Before your study, our staff or the medical team will confirm the specific instructions for your case.

๐Ÿ“„ Required documentation

ID document, your health insurance or coverage card, the medical order for the indicated procedure, and any prior studies requested by your physician.

๐Ÿงช Prior studies

Lab work and other studies are commonly requested before the procedure. Your physician will tell you which ones apply to your case.

๐Ÿ’Š Regular medication

Don't stop or change your medication without medical guidance. Tell your physician about all the medications you take, especially anticoagulants.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Fasting

Many procedures require a period of fasting beforehand. The medical team will tell you how many hours before you should start fasting.

๐Ÿ‘ค A companion

We recommend coming with an adult companion, especially for the trip home after the procedure.

๐Ÿ  Follow-up recommendations

After the procedure you'll receive instructions about rest, care of the puncture site, medication and follow-up checks. It's important to follow them and ask if you have any questions.
